"The Kevin Christie Fund"

Carnoustie man Kevin Christie, who was left with almost totally blind and paralysed following a freak accident in June this year(2004), Kevin (31), who severed his spinal cord has been receiving intensive care at a specialist unit in Glasgow.
Once his condition is fully stabilised, he is to be transferred to a nursing home in Monifieth so that he can be closer to his parents Gina and Angus and his partner Yvette.

Recognising that Kevin would probably need constant nursing care for the rest of his life, family friend Margaret Laird set up a trust fund to raise money for specialist equipment. Her initiative sparked a series of fund-raising events. Margaret Laird said, "We are absolutely over the moon at the response from people who knew Kevin and his family and complete strangers who have been moved by what happened. It is such a boost to Kevin to know that so many people want to help him have the best possible quality of life. He is being kept up to date with all the fund- raising activities and I know he is very grateful to everyone who has contributed."

"Before any move to Monifieth can be considered there have to be four specially trained nurses put in place so that Kevin can receive the level of care he needs—two of them are now fully trained and the other two are undertaking their training so everything should be in place soon for when he is ready to be transferred."
Kevin transferred to Monifieth earlier this year (2005)
